Royalston Falls

Royalston, MA 275K

Royalston Falls rugged terrain surrounding the 55' falls, represents a remoteness that that's not easily come by in Massachusetts. However, for the fleeting chance of finding your spot for an afternoon of solitude requires only a moderate hike, depending on which entry you use. The western entry runs downhill for about .75 of a mile. However, viewing from this side also is not as accessable and return is uphill. The eastern entry requires stealth in your car, picking a line, avoiding some loose boulders, not impossible for a car, but better for SUV's and 4x4's, especially during wet/muddy seasons. Once there , the eastern entry is quicker and easier to walk. The viewing at the falls is better and has protective cable as a railing. This is a place that requires respect around the edges.
