Dean's Ravine. Canaan, CT
The Deans Ravine area is part of the Barrack Mountain State Park. The ravine is a pristine, 45-50 foot cascade located in a secluded hemlock grove and provides one with moderate exercise and tranquility.
From Falls Village in Canaan, where Rt-126 crosses Rt-7, follow Rt-7 south for 1.5 miles, turn left at the light onto Warren #2 Turnpike Road (if you cross the Housatonic River you missed it.)and follow it for .9 mile turning left onto Music Mountain Road. You should be going uphill and in .8 of a mile Cream Hill Road will intersect on your right. A unimproved parking area for the falls is on you immediate left. A beaten trail proceeds in towards the brook, head down stream and follow the trail. In about .3 of a mile, a switch back will descend to the base of the falls. Allow 30 - 40 minutes round trip.
