William Plude *** U.S. Marines *** Vietnam 1967-1969
 
In June of 1966 at the age of 17, Bill enlisted into the Marines and went to Parris Island for Boot Camp, then as part of a 81mm mortar unit headed for Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He stayed in Cuba from January to June of 1967. In July of 1967, he received orders for Vietnam. He served in Vietnam for 18 months and was attached to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division and took part in the defense of Con Thien from September 1967 to January 1968 which was under siege and then at Khe Sanh which was also under siege from January to April 1968. After Vietnam he served in Naples, Italy from June 1969 to discharge in July 1970.
