Carpenters Falls. Granby, CT
These falls are remotely located in 382 acres of the Carouso Collamore Carpenter Preserve, a forested area between Broad Hill and Weed Hill and part of the greater area of the McLean Game Refuge in West Granby. During non-winter seasons, access through this area is by Broad Hill Road, a maintained dirt road. Winter access is by snowshoe, ski-doo or x-country ski.
From the center of Granby at the intersection of Rt’s 20, & Rt-189, follow Rt-20 west for 2.6 miles. Turn left onto West Granby Road for .2 mile, left onto Simsbury Road for 200 yards, then right onto Broad Hill Road. (If you miss W Granby Rd, the next left off Rt-20 in .3 miles is Simsbury Rd Road.) Broad Hill Road will turn to dirt, follow the road .9 mile to a wooden bridge at the Weed Hill Road intersection. The falls are 75 yards down stream from the bridge. Uniquely a metal plaque ID’ing the falls is attached to a large boulder in the stream above the brink of the falls. Follow the bushwhack trail down stream to view the falls.
