Prydden Falls. Newtown, CT
This cascading waterfall is only accessible by a moderately easy hike of 1.5 miles. The hike itself is pleasant as you walk along the Housatonic river. The trail is well traveled and easy to follow. The waterfall is located off the main trail and has a series of cascades with a larger 30-35 foot segment located 100 feet from the shoreline of the river.
From Newtown, take exit 10 off I-84 and proceed east on Rt-34 (Berkshire Road) for 6.6 miles. Your looking for Great Quarter Road on your left. If you come to the Stevenson Dam your passed it, it’s 1.5 miles back. Follow Great Quarter Road which twists and turns through residential housing until you reach the trail head which is at a gated dead end. The trail follows the shoreline and has a couple of short, but moderately steep hills. Allow 2-3 hours round trip.
