The Falling Waters Trail is part of a popular loop trail that ascends to join with the Franconia Ridge trail on the summit of Mt. Haystack which continues north over Mt. Lincoln and onto Mt Lafayette, returning down the Greenleaf Trail, back to the Lafayette Campground parking area. Go north on I-93, pass the Flume, exit for the Layette Campground and trail parking area. Follow the heavily used trail into the woods, after a short distance you'll encounter a fork, bear right for the Falling Waters Trail-Haystack Mt. Walker Brook will be the first brook crossing in about . 2 of a mile, continue on through the level woodlands for . 4 of a mile to Dry Brook. From here Stairs Falls are . 1 of a mile up stream, an additional . 1 of a mile up stream is Swiftwater Falls and finally . 5 of a mile Cloudland Falls being the most impressive. The trail becomes moderate to strenuous in steepness from Swiftwater to Cloudland Falls Allow 4 hours round trip.
