After officers
and basic training at Fort Sam Houston, Martha served as a 1st
Lieutenant in the U.S. Army's Nurse Corps. She served in Vietnam
with the 6th Convalescent Center at Cam Ranh Bay from October
1968 to May 1969 and transferred to the 312th Evacuation Hospital
at Chu Lai from May 1969 to October 1969. Many of her photos
show the medical and other civil interactions the military had
through MedCAP and Vietnamization programs which started in the
late 1960's.
