Ross was drafted into the Army on July 12, 1966. He
received basic training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and was
assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 16th Artillery at Fort Bragg in
the FDC, Fire Direction Center for 155mm howitzers. In June of
1967 they arrived in DaNang, Vietnam. Around Christmas of 1967
he transferred to the 1st Battalion, 14th Artillery, fielding
155mm and 105mm howitzers around Chu Lai, Hill 54 and Hill 348
until his DEROS on May 12, 1968 arriving stateside on May 16,
1968.
