"Other Armored Personnel Carrier"

 
The American soldier has always relied upon ingenuity and necessity. The examples here are non-regulation vehicles that were constructed by utilizing the materials at hand. This armed personnel vehicle is not the standard military issue. In need of protecting their supply convoys in light of President Nixon's Vietnamization Program and the dwindling United States military prescence in Vietnam beginning in late 1969. So, vehicles like " Little Respect" were created. This one has a steel fabricated carrier top with w/50mm & M-60 machince guns mounted onto the bed of a 2.5 ton, 6x6, Mack truck.

 

In need of protecting their supply convoys, Armored Personnel Carriers vehicles like
"King Cobra" were created. This one uses the M-113 APC body and its 50mm and 30 caliber machine gun turrets mounted onto the bed of a 2.5 ton, 6x6 wheel drive, Mack truck.

 

 
 
 
 
 
This Jeep has your basic M-60 machine gun mount, but the armored windshield and beefed up steel body is very unique. The 4x4 wheel drive provided an on or off road offense to Viet Cong small arm attacks.
